Mark Daly and Michael Harding – aka The Only Michael - have been working together as Animat since 2004, after meeting and collaborating as DJs in the Sundaze collective. They have produced five self-released EPs and had tracks released by labels including One World, Dubmission, Bloodsugar and Boltfish.
Their first full-length album Earplay - An enchanting listen and a beautifully fresh sounding album (Pathaan, BBC Asian Network) - was released on Big Chill in 2008 and they also appeared on the compilations Take Me Home and 15x15. The second album, Imagining Ghosts, was released in 2011.
Animat have developed an original approach to live performance, creating new soundtracks to their favourite films using a mix of their own material and tracks from their eclectic DJ archive.
